POLYCHAETE WORMS
Polychaeta worms are marine worms usually under 10cm in length. Lower classifications of this worm include canalipalpata and scolecida. They can usually be found crawling at the bottom of the ocean but some have developed their bristles, called chaeta, to allow them to swim. They are very colorful worms (as seen by pictures bellow) and use this color to attract prey. These "under water worms" as they are commonly referred to as have greater brain capacities than others in their class. Most of these worms have large well developed eyes but they also have antenas which help them to transverse. In regards to their nervous system they contain a single or double ventral nerve cord spanning the the length of their body, as well as a ganglia (a structure containing a number of nerve cell bodies) and a series of small nerves in each of their 50 or so segments.
